Leonardo's new app secures your voice in the digital age
- Available on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, Leonardo’s new cyber security product CERYX transforms a standard smartphone into a highly secure corporate communications tool
- CERYX uses security algorithms from the UK Government’s intelligence agency GCHQ to protect voice, photo, video and conference calls
Bristol, 21 March 2017 – At the B-APCO Annual Exhibition and Conference, Telford 21-22 March, Leonardo has unveiled its latest cyber security product, a smartphone app that can turn a standard iOS or Android device into a secure communications platform for voice, messaging and video, protecting against eavesdropping or intercept.
Unlike the bulky phones from classic spy movies that spring to mind when you think of secure personal communications, Leonardo’s CERYX doesn’t require specific, dedicated hardware. Put simply, people needing to speak with confidence that they are not being overheard can simply download an app (available on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store) which allows voice, video and photo messaging and even conference calling over applications that use voice-over IP (VOIP) cloud connections.
What differentiates CERYX from consumer chat applications is the government-grade security that manages the encryption. This encryption uses the MIKEY-SAKKE algorithm from the UK Government’s signal intelligence agency, GCHQ, giving each user organisation a comprehensive ability to manage individual and group access to the service using in-house tools or via the cloud.
Leonardo’s release of CERYX follows years of the company providing cyber security support for enterprises and governments round the world. Most notably, Leonardo provides cyber defence for more than 52 NATO sites and headquarters in 29 countries in its role as NATO’s Cyber Defence Mission Partner.
