Leonardo DRS (which is based in the U.S. and focuses on the supply of products, services and integrated support to the Armed Forces as well as to intelligence agencies and defence companies).
Telespazio and Thales Alenia Space (joint ventures established with Thales respectively for satellite services and for the manufacture of satellites and orbiting infrastructure).
MBDA (joint venture established with BAE Systems and Airbus for missile systems).
Working with Governments, Armed Forces, institutions and citizens, Leonardo designs and realises a wide range of products, systems, services and integrated solutions that meet our customers’ defence, protection and security needs, in every possible scenario: land, sea, sky, Space and cyberspace. We keep a a life-long commitment to our customers, with constant product support (including service and upgrading assistance and dedicated training programmes).
We invest 11% of revenues in Research and Development. 10,000 engineers (mostly in aeronautics/aerospace, electronics, mechanics, computers and telecommunications), 12,000 highly specialised technicians and approximately 10,000 employees dedicated to R&D: these are Leonardo’s numbers of excellence and our engine of competitiveness and success. We are the fifth Group in the world in terms of investment in R&D in the Aerospace and Defence sector and the second largest in Europe (The EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard 2016).
We have integrated capabilities that allow us to provide a systemic and long-term approach to any defence and security requirement. The base of such capabilities is a comprehensive and complementary portfolio of products and solutions, able to converge into integrated operative systems, for the management of complex events and scenarios, which require immediate and coordinated responses.
Thanks to the dual application of our technologies, our solutions are highly flexible, meeting the defence and security needs of the military sector, as well as fulfilling civil market requirements (such as environment and climate monitoring, urban infrastructure management, computer network security and major events management).

Pursuant to the internationalisation strategy followed by the Company, the shareholder base went from being mainly domestic to being mainly international. Currently, approximately 90% of the institutional float is held by foreign funds.
