From 12-15 September 2017, Leonardo exhibited at DSEI (Defence Systems and Equipment International), which took place at the ExCel Centre in London.
The Leonardo stand highlighted four themes: Autonomous Systems; Command, Control and Communicate; Sense, Engage and Protect; and Operational Readiness. These were all centred around a full-scale AW159 Wildcat helicopter, representing the company’s ability to provide a full spectrum of capabilities end-to-end, from sensors to support.
Away from the main stand, the company also presented in the DSEI Land Zone with a Generic Vehicle Architecture demonstration and dismounted soldier systems. In the Naval Zone, Leonardo displayed its beam director which forms part of the UK DragonFire Laser Directed Energy Weapon programme led by MBDA.
Outside in the Rotary Park, Leonardo showcased a Merlin Mk2, a Merlin MK4 and an AW149; the Forward Operating Base deployable tower with Hitrole gun system was positioned next to this area. On the dock, next to the Type 23 frigate, a Navy Wildcat Helicopter and a Merlin MK4 helicopter were stationed.
The Friday was People and Skills Day at DSEI. The day focused on the early career opportunities available across the UK Defence industry. For more information on career opportunities at Leonardo in the UK, please our UK Career pages.
