Can I apply for more than one discipline/role
You are welcome to indicate on the application form your interest in more than one discipline or role.
What are the deadlines for applying for the Graduate Development programmes?
We recruit from September through to June, but it is recommended that you apply to us by end of December.
I graduated 18 months ago; can I still apply to a Graduate Development programme?
You are welcome to apply, but it is advisable to consider if the development schemes offer the relevant skills and career development you want. You may also like to explore other career opportunities within the company. A member of our Recruitment team is always happy to talk through any questions or concerns you may have.
What happens once I have applied online?
If your application is successful, you will be invited to complete further assessment stages during March and April. These are held at various locations.
When would I commence working for Leonardo?
Graduates usually commence employment at the end of August, beginning of September, although there is sometimes the opportunity/ requirement to commence earlier, but this is mutually agreed on a case by case basis.
Before starting with Leonardo, who can I talk to, to get further information on the company or local site?
You will be assigned a 'Buddy' who is someone already working within the organisation (usually a graduate themselves). They will be able to help you as you prepare to join us. Our website also provides a useful factual introduction to the Company and is constantly updated with regards to our business achievements and products. The Recruitment team is also happy to answer any questions you may have.
I'm not a UK National, can I still apply?
As a defence contractor there are security obligations placed on the Company meaning that all our applicants must be able to successfully achieve the relevant level of security clearance to join us. Unfortunately we are unable to sponsor Tier 2 visa applications for apprentice positions as they do not meet the minimum qualifying criteria for sponsorship requirements as laid out in the government guidelines. Applicants need to have been resident in the UK for the past 5 years.
Is there an upper age limit?
There is no upper age limit for our graduate programme. Due to funding restrictions, apprentices must complete the four year training programme by their 26th Birthday. Therefore can be no older than 22, the August they join.
What happens once I have submitted my application?
Once you have submitted your application you will receive an email notification to confirm your application has been received. Your application will then be reviewed and if successful you will be invited to the next recruitment stage.
If I am unsuccessful can I apply again next year?
Yes, you can apply next year.
Will the company support me to gain additional qualifications?
Support for additional qualifications is available but have to align to our business requirements and your development needs.
What happens when I finish my training scheme?
If you successfully complete your apprenticeship or graduate programme, we will support you to transition into a suitable role subject to the requirements of the business.
How long is the selection process?
We recommend you submit your application as soon as possible, Assessment Centres and Interviews will begin in January and continue until all roles have been filled. We will cease advertising a role once all available positions have been filled. Dependant on fulfilment of the requirements, the process can take until August to complete.
When will I hear if I have been successful?
We will communicate with all applicants via their registered email address, so please ensure this is an email address you will have access to during holidays and after the academic year has ended. Please ensure your mailbox is set up to receive emails from a Leonardo email address. All candidates will be emailed an update once their application has been reviewed, please be patient, the recruitment process can take until August to complete.
Will I be required to travel during the selection process?
If you are invited to an interview, you will be required to travel to Yeovil, Somerset.
Will I be reimbursed for travel expenses?
We are unable to reimburse travel expenses incurred during the selection process.
How long are the training programmes?
Our graduate scheme is two years in duration.
If successful, when would I start?
If you are successful, graduates will start in the following October.
If successful, would I be able to receive help with relocating if I need to relocate?
The company offers a relocation package and will support you through the relocation process. Details will be provided at the offer stage of the recruitment process.
If I am unsuccessful, will this affect me if I apply next year?
No, this will not affect you if you apply next year. Whatever stage you reach, will provide you with experience of an application process which may assist you in the future.
If I am unsuccessful, can I gain feedback?
We offer feedback to all interviewed candidates. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications received, we are unable to provide feedback prior to this stage of the recruitment process.
