On 1 April 2018, the Royal Air Force launched RAF100, a national campaign to mark its 100th year.
The centenary itself will feature events, activities and other initiatives running nationwide from April to the end of September 2018.
Reflecting on its proud record of serving the nation, the RAF will COMMEMORATE the service and sacrifice of those who have gone before; CELEBRATE its service men and women who continue to aid and protect people around the world through their dedication, skill and cutting-edge technology; and INSPIRE the next generation, helping them to fulfil their potential and aspiration so that together we can shape and protect our future.
Leonardo is proud to be an official partner of the Royal Air Force for RAF100. We have a long heritage over the past 100 years of helping the RAF maintain its operational advantage through innovation in the design, development and production of airborne capability. Many of the people working within our business have either joined us following a career with the Royal Air Force, continue to serve as Reserves or are active members of their local Air Cadet Squadrons. We look forward to celebrating this incredibly special milestone and to continuing to play an active role through our investment in ensuring the RAF remains at the forefront of air combat and defence through the next 100 years.
Our company has a strong and passionate team of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Ambassadors who, alongside the spirit and aspirations of RAF100 and the UK Government’s Year of Engineering, work in our local communities across the UK to inspire the next generation of Scientists and Engineers.
As part of the RAF100 programme of events, our Ambassadors will be playing an active role in inspiring younger visitors to RAF Cosford Air Show, at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), at Farnborough Air Show Futures Day and at RAF100 events in Scotland. Leonardo will be supporting the RAF100 Aircraft Tour across the UK, and the Typhoon Display Team through our ongoing sponsorship.
