Yeovilton International Air Day

Leonardo was a platinum sponsor of the 2019 Royal Navy International Air Day at RNAS Yeovilton on 13 July. Our association with Yeovilton and the wider local south west region is a continuation of the trusted relationship we have built with the Royal Navy over the past 100 years.

With a proud history producing naval aircraft and helicopters for more than a century, we are fully committed to working in partnership with the Royal Navy to meet current and future mission requirements.

During the Air Day, visitors had the chance to take a close-up look at many of the aircraft from our history, as well as to see displays from many of the awesome aircraft in operation with the Royal Navy and all the UK armed forces today. The 5-hour flying display featured an array of modern and classic aircraft from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, including the Wildcat and Merlin helicopters manufactured by Leonardo in Yeovil, and the Eurofighter Typhoon to which Leonardo provides more than over 60% of the avionics on-board. We are especially proud to be sponsors of both the Royal Navy Black Cats Display Team and the Royal Air Force Typhoon Display Team.

In addition. we welcomed visitors to the event’s STEM hangar, where there was the chance to meet our apprentices and graduates, as well as learn more about aeronautic technology and the incredible career opportunities Leonardo offers at its Yeovil site.
