Leonardo awarded Gold and Silver level accreditations by Investors in People

Leonardo UK has achieved Gold level accreditation for Investors in People's (IIP) 'Investors in Young People' (IIYP) and 'We Invest in Wellbeing', along with Silver level accreditation for 'We Invest in People'. These reflect the company’s commitment to supporting the development of its employees through opportunities offered by technology, succession planning and flexible working, and tackling challenges such as ineffectual decision-making, absenteeism and employee disengagement.

IIP recognises employer brands that are committed to looking after their people, engaging them and building trust; and it is the only international standard that aligns ambition and people.

Investors in Young People Good Practice Award Gold logoIIYP supports and recognises organisations that recruit, retain and develop young people, providing a framework for those organisations wishing to improve their management of young people.

Leonardo became the first defence business to receive IiYP accreditation in 2015.

Leonardo was one of the first companies to secure the 'We Invest in Wellbeing' gold award. This is in line with IIP's wellbeing framework and included an external assessment involving confidential interviews with Leonardo employees of varying positions across UK business, which focused on physical, social and mental wellbeing.

"We’re delighted to have been awarded our gold level accreditation which is testament to Leonardo’s long tradition of welcoming young people into our business – a practice dating back decades – as well as our approach to nurturing talent throughout a career. Our people are the lifeblood of our company, and the ongoing development of our apprentices and graduates will continue to help determine our future success," says Wendy Allen, Leonardo VP UK Human Resources.

"The wellbeing award is recognition that we have a good wellbeing strategy in place. Over the past two years, and not least during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have increased our focus on mental and social wellbeing. Our Occupational Health team continues to be held in high regard and we are all looking out for one another just that little bit more than we did before. Thank you to all those involved in our assessments and to everyone for helping make Leonardo such a great place to work!"
