Finmeccanica – Selex ES has been awarded a multi-million Euro long-term support contract from BAE Systems to maintain, repair and upgrade the Royal Air Force (RAF)’s Tornado GR4 fleet.

This contract will ensure the Tornado remains battle-ready and able to operate as a key element of the RAF’s fast jet fleet. Electronic warfare software upgrades and ensuring the availability of avionic and electronic warfare systems will form the key work packages.

The contract replaces and builds on three existing contracts to support the Tornado, including Electronic Warfare Risk Reduction Measure (EWRRM), where Finmeccanica – Selex ES met every single target, milestone and key performance indicator since its inception in 2009.

By combining the three existing contracts, Finmeccanica – Selex ES is able to provide significant cost savings to the UK MoD, while sustaining the same high levels of performance.

Work begins immediately and the contract will run until the Tornado GR4 is retired.
