Leonardo awarded Gold level IiYP accreditation
Leonardo’s Defence Electronics UK business has been awarded Gold level accreditation by Investors in Young People, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting young peoples’ educational development and transition into the world of work.
Investors in Young People (IiYP) supports and recognises organisations that recruit, retain and develop young people, providing a framework for those organisations wishing to improve their management of young people. Organisations are measured against a three-stage scale – Standard, Silver and Gold – progressing from the first stage where principles and practices are in place, through to when the management of young people is fully integrated with other business practices.
The prestigious award comes after Leonardo became the first defence business to receive IiYP accreditation in 2015.
Leonardo’s VP UK Human Resources, Wendy Allen, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded gold level accreditation which is testament to Leonardo’s long tradition of employing young people in the business, a practice dating back decades. Young people, apprentices and graduates have been the life blood of our company and will continue to help determine our future success. Thank you to everyone involved in the assessment; we will use their feedback to continuously improve our methods of recruiting, developing and retaining young people.”
The IiYP award further establishes Leonardo’s status as a leading UK early careers employer, having also been ranked 5th in the RateMyApprenticeship’s Top 100 Employers for 2017-2018.
